Beautiful New Hampshire

We loved a beautiful week in New Hampshire.  We were there at peak for the fall leaf colors.  Beware:  Many colorful pictures to follow!

Kankamagus Highway
On Tuesday, we traveled the famous Kankamagus Highway.  People come from everywhere to travel it and see the beautiful colors. There were a lot of leaf peepers traveling the highway, but nowhere near as many as there were later on the weekend.  We were so glad we went on Tuesday.

We stopped frequently to take pictures. There were many pull outs and scenic view spots all along the highway.

An artist was capturing the beauty at one of the scenic overlooks.

I really love this picture.  The lighting is so pretty.

This waterfall was so beautiful.

Roots growing outside the rocks.

We traveled up to a little town called Jackson. They had the cutest general store there, full of fun things to buy. The people there create scenes out of pumpkin people.  It was fun to drive around and take pictures of the scenes.  North Logan does a similar thing called the Pumpkin Walk each year.  We have been there with the Camerons a couple of times.

We headed back home on a slightly different route.  So, so beautiful!

It was a beautiful day trip.

Our resort had a beautiful pool.  We had great weather all week and really enjoyed the pool most days.

A huge, very warm hot tub.  It was a great reward after exercising in the pool.

One day, Ken went on a hike called The Flume.  It was beautiful.
He took a lot of beautiful pictures.  We wanted to bring New Hampshire home with us.

The Bowl

This was an interesting story.  This rock saved someone's life once.  It was wintertime and a man named Boise got stuck up in these mountains.  He was on his horse.  He realized they would not survive the night because of the cold.  He killed and skinned his horse.  He got underneath the hide and climbed under this rock.  He did survive the night in the severe storm.  A rescue party found him there the next day.  It was so cold that they had to use an axe to get the hide off of him.  They named this rock Boise Rock in his honor.

This beautiful bush was growing on the grounds of our resort.

One day we traveled to Plymouth, New Hampshire.  We saw on a map that the home of Robert Frost was there.  It was on the beautiful campus of Plymouth University.  We walked around the scenic campus.

This is where he wrote The Road Less Traveled\

I peeked in the college's radio station and was fascinated with the walls of CDs and vinyl albums.  There were thousands of them.

This was the glorious view off of our back balcony at the resort.

More beauties we saw in our travels:

The hills are alive with color!

Our resort was just off the Kankamagus highway.  On the weekend, it was so crowded going both ways that it was difficult to get out on the street.  You had to just wait until someone let you in.  People come from all over New England to see the beautiful colors and scenery.

The line up of traffic going both ways on the Kankamagus Highway

We took hundreds of pictures of the beauties of New Hampshire.  It was a gloriously beautiful place when we were there. I cut probably half of them, but there still are too many in this post.  We hope you enjoyed them.  We were blessed with beautiful weather all week.  We are so grateful for the beautiful world our Heavenly Father has created for us!

Wow! Amazing fall colors! They're so beautiful! And I love covered bridges! When we lived in Ohio we tried to see as many covered bridges as we could.
