Glacier Bay National Park

On Thursday, May 23rd, we entered Glacier Bay National Park.  Three park rangers came onboard and provided commentary and taught us about this beautiful national park.  Children could even get their junior ranger badges while aboard the ship.

Ice floating in the water.

There is that same ship we saw the day before at Skagway port.

We were on the 8th floor.  Our balcony was just above the public balcony.  There was a crowd of people out there viewing the glaciers and listening to the commentary over the loudspeakers.
Look at the color of the water.  As the glacier moves, it puts sediments in the water that make it that beautiful color.

You can see chunks of ice that have calved from the glacier.

Ken got this great shot of a gull resting on our ship.

That evening was formal night, and the waiters do the waiter's parade.  I think this is the only picture I got of the dining room.  We had a very nice waiter, and the food was delicious.

It was a beautiful day in Glacier Bay National Park, though a bit foggy.  We went back the next week and found it to be a much clearer day.  Post to come.
