Ivergordon, Scotland

Tuesday, May 17th was another of our favorite days.  We docked in Ivergordon, Scotland.  Our excursion to Loch Ness and the Urquart Castle was in the afternoon.  It truly was one of the highlights of the trip.

Beautiful scene from our balcony when docked.

Ken went out for a couple of hours in the morning to explore the town and check out the birds before our scheduled afternoon tour.

There were beautiful murals painted on some of the buildings in the little town.  Later, on our way back to the ship, our tour took us through town to show them, but his pictures from the morning were better than the ones I took from the bus later that day.

He visited this lovely church

A tapestry inside the church illustrated its age.

Gorse, that smells like coconut

A beautiful picture of our ship.  I love this picture.

Our afternoon tour started with a lovely trip through Scottish villages, rivers, and countryside.  We both took pictures from the bus of homes and fields.  It was beautiful and we wanted to record it all!

Another example of a Scottish fence.

We had quite a long time to explore the Loch Ness area and the Urquhart Castle.  We first went to the visitor's center and watched a movie about the castle.

This ancient castle right on the Loch was beautiful and fascinating.

Me with Loch Ness behind

A catapult they used to defend the castle

There is Loch Ness.  I don't see Nessie, do you?

This plant smelled just like coconut sunscreen

Nope, no monster today

We loved seeing and exploring this beautiful area and castle.  This truly was a highlight of our trip.
We enjoyed the ride home, with more beautiful views of Scotland.

Such a beautiful picture.

We passed this beautiful castle, but I was unable to get a good picture of it.  So, I stole this one off the Internet.  It was so pretty.

The Ukranian flag flew in so many places on our trip- showing support for Ukraine.

As we walked back to the ship from the bus, we saw these Mama Common Eider Ducks sitting on their nests.

They seemed unperturbed by our presence

Ivergordon from our balcony.  Such a beautiful place.

Pedestals to be used for wind turbines in the North Sea.

This was one of the most beautiful sail aways we had.  We both took lots of pictures, trying to capture the beauty.

Ships in the distance.

Such a wonderful day!  Now we can say we have seen the famous Loch Ness.
