Liverpool, England

We were in Liverpool, England on Saturday, May 14th.  There were so many sights to see right off the ship.

Royal Liver Building

We had to pose with the Beatles who hail from Liverpool, England

The Cunard Building

Port of Liverpool

On the Royal Albert Dock of Liverpool

One of the things we were most excited about seeing in Liverpool was the statue our church erected of the family preparing to immigrate from England to America.

Ken got shots of the statue from every angle.

Ken wrote this in his journal about Liverpool: " While in Liverpool, I couldn't help but think about my paternal great, great grandparents, John Nock and Emma Spendlove Hinton.  I know that they both came to America through this emigration port.  It helped me feel particularly close and grateful to them and each of my ancestors that sacrificed so much, giving me the privilege to be born and live in these favorable circumstances."

Thousands of locks on the fence, placed there by couples in love.  They lock the lock and throw the key in the ocean, signifying that their love is eternal.

The Ferry cross the Mersey.  We had a nice ride on this colorful ferry.

Do you remember this popular song about The Ferry Cross the Mersey?  I didn't either, but Ken did.

The Liver birds on the clock tower.  One facing the water and the other facing land.

Modern Liverpool Museum.  Many feel that this ultra-modern building mars the skyline of beautiful Liverpool

A selfie with our ship in the background on the way back.  The tour took a little over an hour.  It was very pleasant.

After the ferry ride, we took a bus tour of the city.  We had an excellent guide who pointed out and explained what we were seeing.

World Museum.  I wish we would have had time to go inside.  It was huge.

Radio City Tower

Wellington's Column- Monument to the Duke of Wellington

Victoria Building, University of Liverpool

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral

Church of St. Luke

Gate entrance to China town

Murals painted on the sides of buildings

A very popular thing to do in Liverpool is to be photographed in front of these wings.  Our guide told us that Princess Camilla had recently been photographed there.
I found the picture of Camilla on the internet.

Iconic building on Royal Albert Dock

Similar to the eye of London, this is the wheel of Liverpool.

They served a yummy chocolate caramel dessert that night on the ship.

Back on the ship for the sail away.
