Gabrielsen Sibling Trip to Norway- Land of our Heritage

July 9th-13th was a trip of a lifetime for the Gabrielsen crew.  We have talked about and planned to go to the land of our ancestors for years.  We had it scheduled for 2020, but of course it was cancelled.  We finally made it happen.  We all gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark to board a Holland America cruise ship for a two-week cruise in and out of the fjords all the way up Norway.  After the cruise, which took us back to Copenhagen, we rented three cars to travel to the villages and valleys where our ancestors lived and where Andreas Peterson, our great-grandfather, served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  John and Cindy and Patty and Hal went there 23 years ago to pick up  John and Cindy's daughter, Ami from her mission to Sweden.  With Andreas's detailed journal, Ami's help with the language, and guidance from the spirit, they were able to locate a lot of the places. We hoped we would be able to duplicate that experience.

My family:  Roger, Pam, Ken, Kay, Patty, Hal, Joan, Tom, Cindy, and John

This was our itinerary.

On the first day, we gathered to discuss our plans.  It was so nice to be together.

We got this certificate that we crossed the arctic circle.

Stay tuned for a day by day report of our wonderful vacation.

It truly was a trip of a lifetime.
