July 25 Skagen, Denmark

It was a very windy and cold day the day we were in Skagen.  By now, I had the cold and cough, that everyone was getting, full bloom and didn't feel well.  I decided to stay close to the ship for the day.

Despite the cold and wind, Ken rented a bike and had a great day.  He really covered the peninsula and saw a lot of exciting things and took some great photos.

One of the things Skagen is famous for are the rows of yellow houses and buildings with red roofs.  Everything is so clean and pretty.

This church is interesting.  It is half buried in sand.  The people kept trying to dig it out, but it just kept getting buried, so they left it.  It is unusable, but a famous tourist attraction.

A view of our ship from the bell tower of the church.

Because the church is buried you can't go inside, but you could climb the bell tower.  Ken did and got some good pictures.

I like this one.

This is the Seaman's Church.  It is actually a Swedish church.  The decor inside is very interesting, making it a popular tourist stop.

Notice the light fixtures shaped like ships.

Catapult- another popular tourist site.

Yellowhammer bird

Seals and Common Eiders sunning themselves.

This is a very famous place, causing many to come from all around.  Here, you can put your feet in two seas at the same time: the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.  Even though it is very cold, you can see everyone is barefoot to do just that.

Baby swallows

Both of these are famous sites in Skagen.  Ken hit them all.

Love these pictures!

Ken loved visiting the well-maintained cemetery by the church.

You can see they have a place to put clippings from the flowers and weeds, and they provide water and watering cans for people to maintain the beautiful graves.

Ken had a marvelous day biking Skagen, Denmark.

My sisters (Pam and Patty) went into town to shop but didn't find much.  They did buy some candy in a confectionery store and brought me some. Joan and Tom also rented bikes and covered the peninsula.  I stayed in the room most of the day but did go out to the pier and used the Internet at the port for a while.  I shopped a bit but didn't buy anything. When my sisters got back, they came to visit and cheer me.  We had a fun visit.  How I love my sisters.

This was so sweet.  As we were getting ready to sail away, this band came and performed for us.  At first, I thought it was a high school band, but then realized their members were of all ages.  They did several numbers and marched into different formations.  There was a little drummer trying to keep up that was so cute.

Later that night, at the show, the cruise director said this was a surprise.  They didn't know the band was coming.

Our final dinner was tempura shrimp.  It was really delicious!  I think we all ordered it.
