Ken was a counselor in the High Priest quorum presidency when the change was announced that the quorums would be combined. He was called as 1st counselor in the elders' quorum presidency at that time and served there for three years. He was released when a new presidency was called. He then had a 1 1/2-year break. He was recently called again as 1st counselor in a new elders' quorum presidency. It is a great presidency: President: Ky Nordfelt, 1st Counselor: Ken Hinton, 2nd Counselor: John Rogers, Secretary: Dale Leavitt. All are such good men and committed to working hard for the ward and the Lord.
They have spent many hours in our family room making decisions on ministering assignments and callings. He provides great insight in this calling.
Ken was out to pasture long enough to have two surgeries and take care of some other health issues. Now, I guess he is back in the barn. He also continues to serve as the Audit Committee chairman for our stake, which he enjoys. I guess he will continue there. It really is just twice a year for about a month each time.
I think Ken is happy to serve wherever he is called.
