Cedar City Temple Open House and Kenny's 3rd Birthday

On Saturday, October 28th, Michelle and Brian's family came up from Vegas.  We then traveled to Cedar City so that we could meet Brian's parents who were coming from Salt Lake and then all go to the Cedar City Temple open house.  Michelle and Brian wanted to take some family pictures, so we all met at the historic rock church in Cedar City.  It was a beautiful autumn day and the kids had fun in the leaves.

I love these pictures of Michelle with William.

Sorry about your head, Brian.

Just that week, Ken had been reading some family history and learned that a relative, Loren Covington, had painted the murals in the baptistery in that old church.  So he tried the door and found it open.  It was our lucky day!  So we got to see the beautiful murals in the baptistery room.

The Kennys

One happy Ken; One sad Ken
We then all drove over to a stake center across town, from which they shuttled us to the Cedar temple where we got to go on a tour.

It was beautiful and a wonderful experience to all be together.

Riding the shuttle bus back to the parking lot.
We then all went to Chili's to celebrate Kenny's third birthday.

Kenny was a little overwhelmed when the staff all came out to sing to him and give him a sundae.

Gary and Cynthia then headed back to Salt Lake and we came to our house to continue the party.  Kenny opened presents and we had cake and ice cream.
Cute story:  In the week before his birthday, Michelle asked Kenny how he wanted his cake decorated.  Did he want cars or trucks on it?  Or animals?  He said, while giggling, "We don't put those things on cakes!  I want a candle!"  So that's what he got.

Yea!  We love you Kenny!  Happy, happy birthday!

We loved seeing that beautiful temple in the Open House, too. So cool that you could meet up with Michele and Brian and his parents. That made a happy birthday for Kenny, being with both sets of grandparents!

I love Kenny's little story about the candle! I also love the gorgeous murals at The Rock Church. What a blessing for Dad to have read that part of the family history that very week.
