The Tundra Swans Leaving Shimo Ike Pond

Tundra swans winter in this area.  They sleep on water at night- including Shimo Ike pond.  If you get there at about 6:30a.m, you can watch them wake up and, in groups, leave the pond to go out to the rice fields to glean.  It creates a cacophony of sound and a magnificent display.
