We Say Goodbye to a Favorite Elder
Part of working with the missionaries is losing them to transfers. They are all good kids (Ken doesn't like me to call them kids, but they don't seem to mind it,) but some you bond with more than others. This last week we said goodbye to a very fine young man as he was transferred to Sendai. His name is Elder Myers and he is the one next to me. He was so fun to work with. He is exceptionally kind, generous (he always brought treats for everybody to the meetings- he once bought Costco muffins for the whole zone,) clean, and humble (sounds like a boy scout!) He also has exceptional language skills. He's only been out for a few months, but speaks Japanese better than any other elder we've worked with, I think. Well, what do I know? It all sounds the same to me, but Elder Hinton says he is very good. He and Elder Morris (the other one in the picture) were a great companionship. Our loss is Sendai's gain! Good luck, Elder Myers!

Thank you so much for your blog and all those pictures...makes me feel more connected to the Japanese experience. Thank you for helping (looking over) our missionaries.

What a cute picture of you and Ken and the missionaries. I'm sure you and Ken are role models for those missionaries and do much to help them!
