Ken Bikes Prince Edward Island, Canada

Just a couple of days after we got home from Hawaii, Ken got on a plane to go to Prince Edward Island in Canada.  He and his friend, Greg Last, and other friends had planned this wonderful biking adventure which took them from tip to tip across Prince Edward Island.  He had an incredible adventure.
This is the whole group ready to go at the St. George airport.

Upon arrival at their first bed and breakfast in Charlottetown.

A beautiful church across the street from where they stayed.

Climbing on the bikes the first morning at North Cape.

North Cape Visitors Center and Lighthouse

Group at North Cape.  The huge silver thing on the left is a windmill propeller.
Fields of heather (or it sure looked like heather) were everywhere.

At the beginning of the Confederation Biking Trail.

Kilometer Marker #1 on trail.

PEI's Potato Museum.  PEI is as famous for potatoes as Idaho.

Kilometer Marker #100.  A long, wet, rainy day.
They don't look too much worse for the wear so far.

Interior of the picturesque St. Mary's Church.

Rest stop on a bridge over one of the many bays.

French River

Post card view.

North Rustico Lighthouse.

Another beautiful bay.
Kindred Spirits Country Inn in Cavendish, PEI where they stayed and explored Anne of Green Gables country.
Sunset over the bay.

This is the house that Lucy Maude Montgomery grew up in and upon which she based Anne's green-gabled home.

The front of Green Gables.

This is a fox running into the Haunted Woods behind Green Gables.

Leaving Kindred Spirits Country Inn.

Kilometer Marker #200.  Still Lookin' good!
Shaw's Hotel in Brackley Beach.

East Point Lighthouse.

Whispering Sands Beach Park- their final stop.

The teenagers in the group, Alex Last and McKenzie McDonald,  jumping off the bridge.  The sign says "No jumping off bridge."  The lifeguard just out of the picture sat and watched them do it.

Next year's biking adventure:  Katy Trail in Missouri!!!

That looks so fun. That has been a dream of mine too. I'd love to bike PEI and see Anne's country. She is my favorite literary character. Lucky Ken.

Beautiful pics! And what a fun and amazing trip! I also loved reading about your trip to Hawaii. I love the island of Kauai and it looks like you had a wonderful time.
