And you're right- that is a happy place. But I now know of an even happier place:
Yes, it's our shower/bath room. The Japanese people know how to do baths. They first completely soap and clean themselves outside of the tub in the shower area, with a hand held shower. Ours is amazing. It's the best shower we've ever had. Then they fill the deep tub called an ofuro and climb in and soak. They believe it to be a healing and important thing to do. And I believe they are right. In actuality, I only get in the tub part about once a week, but the shower is so nice! The room is large and really has only one flaw- a full-length mirror in there. But the pain of that is short-lived as it fogs up quickly. The control box does a lot more than we know how to do, but we do know it heats the water and then keeps it hot in the tub for as long as you stay in. It does that by occasionally draining out some of the water and adding more hot. A sweet female Japanese voice tells you what it is doing and it sings when it's done and she tells you. Neither of us have any idea what she's saying. You can even speak into that little box and someone in the kitchen can answer from a similar box in there. Like I say, I'm sure it does a lot more than that if we only could figure out the controls. Oh, it also has a dehumidifier that runs all the time, and again, if we knew what we were doing, it probably would do cool stuff. Anyway, there you have it: the new happiest place on earth!
