Another Transfer

Transfers every six weeks are part of missionary life.  But they aren't my favorite part.  We had a good thing going with Elder Mitchell as our district leader. He was with us here for three transfers, I think.  He was called elsewhere, so we made him a lunch, and sent him on his way.   We will miss Elder Mitchell's cute sense of humor, laugh, and great attitude, not to mention his artwork.

The members really got a kick out of this.  They don't serve drinks with the meal at FHE.  So after he ate, Elder Mitchell would always take his bowl and fill it with water and drink it. For some reason, this really tickled the branch members.
Elder Mitchell has a lot of talents, but maybe shouldn't go into art as his life work.  But we had some good laughs over his drawings.  One night at eikaiwa, we played Pictionary.  Teams sat on opposite sides of the chalkboard.  I was on Elder Mitchell's team. Teams could only see the drawing of their team member.   The category was animals and Elder Mitchell was drawing.  I don't remember who was drawing on the other side, but they were making a very nice crocodile(wani.):
But, somehow, from the drawing below, Elder Mitchell's drawing,  I got crocodile first:

Oh my!  Did everyone get a good laugh at that!  They kept turning the board and comparing the two and just laughed and laughed.
After dropping him off at the bus station for his transfer, we went to the church and found he had left us a goodbye message with a beautiful collection of his animal artwork:
This is Elder Mitchell's shoe.  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that publish good tidings . . .

Take care, Elder Mitchell!  Thanks for leaving Tsuruoka better than you found it!

I hope his Mom follows your blog. She would love to see pics and read about her fine son.

How fun that he left artwork for you. That pictionary story is hilarious. I love that you remember to take pictures of so many things so that we can enjoy the moment with you! And those shoes. Wow.
