The Thirteenth Tale

The Thirteenth TaleThe Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Oh, what a tangled tale! The story creates a tangled mess that then has to be carefully untangled. Strand by strand the mess is separated and smoothed to a satisfying conclusion. The story had a dark, Gothic feel to it such as Rebecca or Jane Eyre. Like those books, it is full of mystery and intrigue. The author’s reverence for books and words and writing resonated with me. The mystery kept me turning the pages. The characters are memorable. Overall, a good read.
