Columbus With a Happy Ending

I spent five weeks in Columbus, with this happy result! Beautiful Lily Kay was born on June 28th. Here she is with her Mama on her birthday:
Shonna was on bedrest, and, as her husband said, "She was the queen of compliance," following Doctor's orders explicitly. She (nor anyone else) wanted anything to do with the NICU this time. She stayed positive and happy and very fun to be with. She kept her hands busy with crocheting and making baby hair bows (many, many, many hairbows and booties and Lily's blessing afghan),
And playing with and reading to Caleb:
It was so fun to hang with this precious little guy. We had such a fun time . . .
Reading,
Blowing bubbles,
And just hanging out.
I celebrated my birthday while I was there. Blake was so cute to make my favorite chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. He went to the store to choose the perfect cake mix and frosting. As he was standing before the cake mix shelves, trying to decide, a man walked by and said, "Hard decision, huh?" Blake said, "Yes, it's for my mother-in-law." "Oh, take your time, son, take your time." He did really well. It was yummy.
Happy Birthday, Gramma!
Blake was home the day of my birthday (he had a few days break), so I headed to the temple. What a lovely place to spend my birthday.
By then, Shonna was on "take it easy" instead of "stay right down." So Shonna and Blake took me out to dinner at the Market District. I loved choosing from the many, many options. What a fun place!
The next day, we went to the famous Columbus Zoo, rated the BEST zoo in the nation.
The highlight for me was watching Caleb ride the Carousel. He loved it.
Caleb is still learning to walk. We did lots of practicing while I was there:
Caleb LOVES the "tempo" Loves it. We visited twice. He says full sentences (the kid's a genius.) "This is the tempo," is one of his favorites to say.
We went on a Teddy Bear Picnic. He loves to sing the song while he dances Teddy Grahams and then gobbles them. "Night, night," he always says at the end when their ". . . Mummies and Daddies will take them home to bed, because they're tired little teddy bears."
Caleb LOVES to dance with his cousin, Gabbi on the internet. On Michelle's blog, there are some videos of Gabbi dancing. As soon as you open the computer, Caleb beelines for you, saying over and over and over, "Gabbi, Gabbi, Gabbi, Gabbi, . . . " Then he and Gabbi dance and dance.
Finally, on June 28th (story below) baby Lily arrived safe and sound. Lilies for Lily (and her Mama)
Caleb meets his new sister:
Lily Kay and Grandma Kay
Now, isn't that a happy ending to a really good story?
The End!

That IS a wonderfully happy ending! How appropriate to get lilies for Shonna - not only b/c of the names, but b/c they are her favorite. You are such a good Mom!

What a beautiful story with a beautiful baby girl as a grand climax ending! And she has such a beautiful name! Those lilies were almost as spectacular as she is! Roger and I are SO happy for Shonna and Blake - and little Caleb gets a sister to play with!
Can't wait to hear more details, Kay!
