See the sign above Ken's head at the hospital? It means no food. They hung it above his bed on Sunday in preparation for him to have surgery on Monday.
When the doctors were in the room the nurses started serving dinner. Ken reached up and quietly turned the sign- you know, like an open and closed sign you see in shop windows, teasing that they should bring him food. The doctors all laughed.
Later, they brought in another patient and hung a sign above his bed. A doctor and nurses came to meet with him. No one could speak his language as he was from a state in India, so they determined to move him to another floor where there was a nurse that could speak his language. As they gathered his things, the doctor took down his sign. When the doctor turned around, Ken pointed up to his sign and indicated he would like him to take down his sign too. The doctor got a broad smile and shrugged and said, "Sorry, I am not authorized to take yours."
Ken had some fun amidst this challenge.
