This is a story of friendship, loyalty, romance, and love. The characters are flawed, but very likable. It is such a good story, told so well. I love how it portrayed unconditional love between two friends. The audio version is well done.

I'm not sure why goodreads cut part of my review, but here it is in full:

Sea of Memories

Sea of MemoriesSea of Memories by Fiona Valpy
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was well-written. I loved the settings and description. I was disappointed in the choices made by the main character, especially in the end. I loved the granddaughter/grandmother relationship that developed in the story. I listened to the audio version of this book. The reader had a very singsong style that made listening difficult. I feel I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it.

A Lavar Hinton Reunion 2023

On Saturday, August 19th, members of the A. Lavar Hinton family gathered at the Merlin Olson Park in Logan, Utah for a reunion.  The Hinton Siblings were already there for our sibling reunion, and many of the extended family members joined us on Saturday.

Sarah and Michelle

Darren and Michelle

Clark was definitely the favorite great uncle.  He was so cute with the kids.

Lily, Hannah, Grandma, and Shonna

Kyler, Kathy, their new grandbaby, and Mark

Shonna reuniting with her cousin Caleb.

Brett and Sherrie

Kendrea and her twin daughters Zadie and Kylin.  They are identical, so I can't tell you which is which.  They both recently returned from serving missions.

Lorene, Ada, Dave, and Gerri

Kendall, his friend Zach, Lorene, and Ada

Leslie and Jim

The footraces were held by age.  Everyone won a prize: an otter pop.  Otter pops were always a part of the Hinton family reunion.

Clark was at the finish line, calling the race.  He had all of the kids high 5 him.  He was so cute with the kids.  He is a kid magnet.

This nine square game was so fun and had kids playing it all afternoon.

Mark Brunner, in an effort to prove Aggie ice cream was better than BYU ice cream, bought some and cones and served to all.  He drank the melted part at the end.  He was pretty much a hero.

There was facepainting.

It was a fun afternoon of visiting.

Janelle Bruner provided supplies for the kids to make boats to race in the creek.

Those races were so fun!  The kids had a blast.

Shonna (with Kenny cheering her on) holding the rope for the finish line.

Caleb created a deluxe boat!

This day was so fun.  The flyer sent about it said we had the gazebo area rented from 9:00am to 9:00pm. When people started packing up around 5:00pm, Hannah disappointedly said, "It said it would go until 9:00pm."  She was sad everyone was leaving.  I think everyone had a great time.  Thank you to Dave and Gerri, Janelle and Mark, Shonna and Blake, and Michelle and Brian- who provided fun things for everyone, and to everyone else who came.
