It's no secret that Ken is a birder. He loves birds. It all started when we went to visit Mom and Dad in Idaho years ago and they took us to the
Malheur Bird Refuge in Oregon. He got hooked. He owns several field guides, but this Sibley's one is his favorite. He's had it for years, and as you can see, it's completely worn out.
As he identifies a new bird that he hasn't seen before, he writes by it's picture the date and place he saw it. So the book is a history and record of his birding as well as a field guide.
Father's Day is coming up, and I have a new Sibley Field Guide to give him. Shhhhh! Don't tell!!

* The bird pictured on the cover is a Varied Thrush. It lives in the Northwest, and Ken saw one in
Parunuweep. He says it's one of his favorite sightings of all time.
Sibley's Field Guide to Birds: one of Ken's favorite things!

It sounds like you have the perfect Father's Day gift - I am sure Ken will be pleased!
I love it thatKen carries on the birding in our family. Can he transfer all of those notes from the old to zthe new? It's kind of like scriptures - it's hard to get new ones because you don't want to lose your markings. But if it's falling apart . .
