At a Hinton sibling gathering a few years ago, we played a game that involved answering questions. One of the questions was to name a person, other than family, that was most influential in your life. As we revealed our answers we found that most of the Hinton siblings answered Dell Stout. He was their youth leader, their bishop, neighbor, friend, mayor, county commissioner, member of the volunteer fire squad, and member of many community boards, and later, member of the stake presidency. He spent his senior years as a sealer at the St. George temple. He lived a long life full of service to his large family, his church, neighbors, and community.
Dell has been ill and failing for several years now. The long illness gave Ken time to go and visit him several times and express his love and appreciation for the influence he was in his life. Dell passed away recently and we attended his viewing and funeral on Saturday, February 26th.
It sure seems like I am blogging about a lot of funerals lately!
