My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Modern Fiction Audiobook
I think it was CS Lewis who admonished us to take time to reflect upon every book we read. I have certainly been doing that since finishing this book a few days ago. We all hear the horrors of immigration. We know on an intellectual level. But this book makes you feel those horrors. It makes you live through them. It makes you feel one of America’s biggest social problems in a whole new way. I only hope Trump reads this book.
I don’t know what to rate it. One side of me hated it. I didn’t want to live through the extreme traumas. I hated knowing this evil exists. That side gives it 2 stars. But the other side of me is so grateful I read it. I have insight and empathy that I didn’t have before. That side gives it 5 stars. So, I guess I will average it to 3 ½ stars. I know that my rating matters to no one but me. But it does matter to me. This is a book I will remember for a long time.
