William's 4th Birthday Party

On Sunday, August 8th, we traveled down from where we were staying in Park City to attend William's 4th birthday party.  Extended Prince family tradition is to meet every Sunday evening for dinner.  When there is a birthday in the family, it becomes a birthday party.  This day was William's special celebration.

I know I didn't need ALL of these of him with that cute cake- but I just couldn't decide which pictures to cut.  He is so cute.

We love to read to our grandkids.
Michelle invited us to come early (the Prince party was to start at 5:30) so that we could spend time with the kids.
Gabbi learned how to make rolls in young women's class held over Zoom during social distancing.  She has since made rolls many times.  They are really, really good.  She is an amazing girl.  How we love her!  When we got there, she was making the roll dough.  Isn't she cute?

Michelle was busy putting together the darling lion cake.  She used black fondant for the facial features.  We had trouble making the whiskers skinny enough.  Gabbi came over and tried and made perfect whiskers.  She has skills!!

The cake all done.  Is that not adorable?  Great job, Michelle!

Brian is always right in there helping when there's cooking going on.

Remember how I have sworn off Monopoly for the rest of my life?  Well, somehow I got roped into playing Monopoly Deal, a card game based on the board game.  I lost.  Now I've sworn off Monopoly Deal for the rest of my life as well.  Monopoly is an evil game.

Grandpa played the more fun game with Jaron and William: Suspend.

William was so anxious to sit in the special birthday chair and open his presents.  He had to try it out.

He wanted to show us all of the decorations his family had put up for him.
At 5:30 the wonderful Prince family arrived.  We love these people like they are our own family.  We really enjoy being with them.
It was a delicious feast of sweet and sour chicken (really, really yummy- find the recipe here), Pasta Spinach Chicken Salad (made by Aubrey,) Fruit plate (brought by Cynthia,) Gabbi's rolls, Vegetable tray (brought by us,) and brown and white rice.
After dinner, William opened presents.  He made a haul.  He was so excited and so cute.  The Prince family play a game that the giver holds the present over his head and everyone says, "Heavy, heavy hang over thy poor head.  What do you wish with a bump on the head?"

Prince tradition is also to hold the gift under his chin for the pictures.

Happy birthday to you!

Let's dig in!

Such a happy chocolate boy!
How we love our William and are so glad we could be there to celebrate his special day!  Happy 4th birthday, William!
