This is the story of a woman seeking peace and healing in her life by going on a pilgrimage to the country of her roots- India- to learn of her past. There, she learns the fascinating story of her grandmother, the storyteller, and her secret. It is a beautifully written book and a beautiful story with memorable and lovable characters. The immersion into East Indian male-dominated, caste-based culture was disturbing, but educational. I loved that Jaya sought her roots to heal and to learn her own strengths.
