Zlata's Diary: A Child's Life in Wartime Sarajevo by Zlata Filipović
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This book was recommended in a non-fiction book I read last year- The Freedom Writers. Similar to the Anne Frank diary, it presents the horror of war from a child’s perspective. It was difficult to read. It wasn’t horribly graphic, but still it presented the horrors of war. It was a diary, so not as engaging as a written story. I am glad she and her parents were able to get out of their war-torn country and find refuge and peace.
