Happy 42nd Anniversary to Us!!!

Today we celebrate our 42nd anniversary.  I am grateful for this good, kind man with whom I get to travel through life!

To celebrate, we went out to dinner at a lovely local Italian restaurant.  We learned about it a couple of years ago in an interesting way.  Ken was at a local grocery store, waiting in line to pay.  In front of him in line was an older gentleman.  They struck up a conversation.  When it came time for the gentleman to pay, he realized he had forgotten his wallet.  Frustrated and embarrassed, he asked them to keep his items and he would go and get his wallet and come back.  Ken stepped in and volunteered to pay for the items.  "Just add it to mine," Ken said.  The gentleman protested, but then accepted.  He waited for Ken and then tried to negotiate a way to pay him back.  Ken said absolutely not.  It wasn't that much and he wanted to do it for him.  The gentleman then introduced himself as Chef Alfredo and said he had a restaurant in town.  We had never heard of it.  But he told Ken to bring me and he would serve us dinner on the house.  Well, that was an offer we couldn't refuse.  When we came in, he treated us like royalty and served us a most delicious three-course Italian meal.
Knowing how much we had enjoyed that meal, Ken made reservations for our 42nd anniversary at Chef Alfredos.  Alfredo has since mostly retired, but they are still cooking by his recipes and the food was still delicious.  It was a delightful evening.
Chef Alfredo's is located in the old Bentley house in historic downtown St. George.

We had stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer.  We gobbled them before I thought of taking a picture.
I had stuffed chicken with shrimp and mushrooms in a delicious sauce.

Ken had pasta carbonara with blackened chicken

We shared molten fudge cake for dessert.

We decided to share dessert.  Ken LOVES crème brulee'.  That is what he would have chosen.  I love chocolate.  He ordered the chocolate. That is typical of Ken and what has made the 42 years work.  He puts my wants and desires above his own.  I truly travel with an angel.
