Nathan Presents at Senior Capstone Symposium

Nathan wants to be an engineer.  He spent over 200 hours creating an engineering project that he called the Magic Mirror for his senior capstone project.  He asked a man he knows that works as the director of space systems assurance in Denver to mentor him.  He agreed and helped Nathan plan his project and critiqued him as he created it.   Nathan presented his project at the senior capstone symposium.  I wish I could post the video of him presenting the project to the judges.  He did a fabulous job.  But Blogger won't let me post videos.

Nathan's family moved from Colorado the weekend before the symposium, so weren't able to attend.  Ken wanted to support him, so he flew to Denver that morning, then flew home early the next morning.

Nathan and his friend Alex who also presented at the symposium.

Much like a science fair, each student set up a representation of their project.

Nathan's Magic Mirror

Nathan is living with this kind lady and their family while he finishes his senior year.  They are in their ward there. She came to support him, too.

Nathan's mentor encouraged him to keep a log as he worked on his project.  He taught him that doing so preserves the integrity of the project, making a patent possible.

When Nathan was here last Thanksgiving, he spent many hours working on this project.  He was so excited about it.  I think he really has found what he wants to do for his life work.

After the symposium, Ken was able to take Nathan out for dinner.  It was a sweet bonding time for them.
Congratulations on a job well done, Nathan.
